Application Process

The Department of Urology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center accepts applications and supplemental documents through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and participates in the American Urological Association Urology Residency Match. Deadline for submitting materials is October 21, 2020.

In order for your ERAS application to be complete the following must be submitted. We are aware that some of the required material may not be available by the deadline, however, please ensure your recommendation letters are uploaded by the deadline date.

  • Completed application
  • Personal statement
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Official transcript from your medical school
  • Dean's letter
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • USMLE board scores 

Once the application is completed, the Interview Selection Committee reviews each application and grants a limited number of interviews.   Applicants will be notified in November if they have been selected for an interview. For additional information, please email Laura Vargas, Program Coordinator, at lp2224@cumc.columbia.edu

Interview

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, interview dates are currently to be determined and we will be planning virtual-only interviews this season. We will also not be sponsoring any visiting sub-internships. Instead, we are working on developing a process that will give you, as an applicant, as much information about our program as possible. Please revisit this site to get updates on possible “virtual sub-internships,” virtual tours, and opportunities to meet with our residents and faculty in ways that allow you to fully understand our culture and ethos.

Selection Process

The final resident selection will be submitted to the AUA Urology Residency Match. Match results will be sent to urology programs, applicants, and medical schools in January 2021. Exact Dates are to be determined.
