The Department of Urology’s physicians and scientists are actively involved in basic science laboratory research that involves all areas of urology. Current studies include investigating:
- The molecular contexts of tumors with the aims of identifying the tumor’s drug responsiveness, drug efficacy and resistance
- The development of technologies for model generation, including functional genomics and proteomics approach
- The coordination of efforts among a research consortium to promote the effective use of genetically engineered mouse models for prevention research
- Preclinical studies of intravesical therapy for bladder cancer
- Investigating the mechanisms of metastasis to study cancer malignancy
- Urothelial development and regeneration
- The resistance of prostate cancer
- Non-muscle invasive transitional bladder cancer
